Christ’s Mission and the Church’s Metrics: The PCA in 2025

Jesus is on an unstoppable mission to build his Church (Matt. 16:18)! He is using every Christian as part of his work, from nursery volunteers to pastors. Everyone’s gifts play an important role in helping the Church carry out Christ’s mission.

Numbers are part of the story of what Christ is doing. That’s why, each year in February, PCA churches send in numbers to help tell the story of what is going on in their church. The numbers are not the story in themselves, but you can’t fully tell the story of what Christ is doing without them.

  • We don’t refer to Jesus feeding a multitude. Instead, we refer to Jesus feeding five thousand.
  • The Bible doesn’t talk generally about the power of God’s Spirit in redeeming people at Pentecost. Instead, Scripture tells us, “…there were added that day about three thousand souls” (Acts 2:41).

The Administrative Committee has the privilege of using its gifts to help the PCA carry out and preserve a record of Christ’s mission. When we think about how Christ is at work through the AC, numbers play a role in the story.

As we look back on 2025, here are some measurable ways the AC was honored to serve the PCA:

1. The AC facilitated denomination-wide prayer.

For the first time in the PCA’s history, the AC created a practical tool to pray for every church in the denomination. Today, over 7,000 people are accessing the prayer guide through email, website downloads, and social media. We hope this movement of prayer continues to grow and results in the advancement of Christ’s kingdom.

2. The AC connected people to local churches.

When people are looking for a local church, we want to find one that is faithful to the Scriptures, true to the Reformed faith, and committed to the Great Commission. The AC built and maintains an online church directory visited by thousands every week. Last year, people used the directory over 165,000 times to find a local church.

3. The AC helped churches find pastoral candidates.

The AC is privileged to help churches as they look for pastors, while also helping pastors as they search for a congregation to use their gifts. Our pastoral search service posted over 250 positions last year and helped 325 candidates. Our staff responded to over 1,000 questions from search committees and candidates. The pastoral resources we make available on our website have been accessed over 200,000 times.

4. The AC created resources to inform and edify the church.

Through byFaith, seminars at General Assembly, and our Gifts and Graces podcast, the Administrative Committee multiplies resources to inform and edify the church. These resources were viewed, attended, and downloaded over 800,000 times. We produced a special video podcast series on the Nicene Creed, which is helping Sunday School classes, small groups, campus ministries, and seminaries.

5. The AC continued to advance the purity of the church.

The AC is entrusted with helping the PCA maintain fidelity to its mission and constitutional standards through publishing, translating, and making these standards accessible. We also coordinate the meetings and facilitate the work of the SJC, RPR, CCB, and other committees as they deliberate and make decisions. Our online BCO was accessed over 150,000 times in 2025. The AC also received and responded to over 1,000 constitutional inquiries.

6. The AC carried out the church’s agenda.

The Administrative Committee doesn’t set the agenda for the PCA, but we do make sure it is carried out. This requires us to do a variety of mission-critical tasks from coordinating the work of study committees to making sure fraternal relations and correspondence are maintained. We facilitated one of the largest General Assemblies in our denomination’s history last year and have been busy carrying out its actions.

In February, the AC is collecting numbers from your Church to help tell the story of what God is doing in your congregation. Please send in the information requested in our annual stats packet so that we can rejoice together in the progress of the gospel amidst our branch of Christ’s Church. Questions? Email stats@pcanet.org.

We are honored to use our gifts to serve Christ’s church as it carries out his mission. Our prayer is that Christ will be pleased to use the PCA even more as he builds his Church around the world.
