2009 MNA Hispanic American Ministries Convocation

June 15 - 16, 2009

You are invited to travel to Orlando one day before the General Assembly to experience the new wine skin for Hispanic American Ministries. This convocation is being hosted by MNA and will be held at Centro de la Familia Cristiana, 3250 Pleasant Hill Road, Poinciana FL 34758. It will begin at noon on Monday, June 15, with lunch and conclude at noon on Tuesday, June 16.

You will get immediate help with at least one practical issue you are facing; you will learn about the formation of the PCA Hispanic American Ministries Network, which is designed to provide you with assistance during the rest of the year; and you will get to see the big picture of Hispanic American ministries in the PCA.

Registration is $25 and the deadline is May 30. Registration for the meeting includes lunch and dinner on Monday and breakfast on Tuesday. Registration for the MNA Hispanic American Ministries Convocation does not include your hotel room and transportation.

English as a Second Language Teacher Training

God has brought the World to our Doorstep. Across the United States the number of Internationals that want and need to learn to speak English is increasing .One of the best ways to demonstrate and share the Gospel in both Word and Deed with our non-English speaking neighbors is through local church-based English as a Second Language (ESL) ministries.

You don’t have to speak another language or be a professional teacher to learn to teach English. You can learn how to share the Gospel in both Word and Deed with people from all over the world without ever leaving home.

In this training you will learn:

How to organize a church-based English as a Second language ministry
How to determine a student’s fluency level and place them in appropriate level classes
Basic principles of teaching and learning a foreign language
Basic language teaching techniques and resources
How to plan and present a basic ESL lesson
How to incorporate biblical material in your classes
How to deal with cultural misunderstanding
How to share your faith with your students

Registration is $50.00 per person. The fee does not include your hotel room and transportation. The fee includes your training manual, snacks, and breakfast and lunch on Tuesday. There will be no meal on Monday evening, but snacks will be available.

Attendance is required on both days, Monday and Tuesday (June 15 and 16).
