NOTICE TO ALL GENERAL ASSEMBLY COMMISSIONERS

REGARDING THE COMMISSIONER HANDBOOK

 

Severe budget restrictions brought about by the current financial crisis have necessitated a change in how

the Commissioner Handbook will be made available to General Assembly commissioners this year.

 

The Handbook will be available the first week in May for download from the General Assembly web site www.pcaganet.org. Commissioners desiring a printed copy or a CD will need to download the pdf files from the web site and print them out or transfer them to a CD

 

When you register as a Commissioner, you will be given the login and password needed to access the

Commissioner Handbook. Those already registered as Commissioners as of April 15 will receive log-in

information via e-mail or regular mail.

 

The Handbook contains information essential to each commissioner’s preparation for General Assembly business. We want to serve you well, but we believe that this change in delivery method is a necessary one.

 

Here are Answers to Some Questions You May Have:

 

Q.     I have already registered for GA and signed up for a printed copy (or CD) of the Handbook. Will the

        AC refund a portion of my registration fee?

A.     No. (But we’re glad you’ve registered!!) Even without the cost of printing and mailing of the

        Handbook, the portion of your registration fee designated for GA materials and the GA Minutes is

        insufficient to cover these expenses. Please keep in mind that all the documents for the Handbook

        (including the on-site portion) must be prepared for publication in digital form as well as for the

        printed GA Minutes.

 

Q.     I have already registered for GA and signed up for both a printed copy and a CD of the Handbook.

        For this, I paid an additional $15.00. Can I receive a refund?

A.     Yes, please email your request with a copy of your confirmation email to events@pcanet.org

 

Q.     Aren’t you just shifting the cost of printing to commissioners?

A.     It is true that we are asking our PCA commissioners (or their churches or organizations) to absorb the

        cost of printing the Handbook this year and save us mailing cost as well. The Administrative

        Committee works constantly to keep General Assembly expenses as low as possible, but with the

        current economic crisis we still find that distributing this expense among our commissioners is

        unavoidable. Many churches and organizations will have in-house printing capability; if you do not,

        please cover the expense for your ruling and teaching elders.

 

Q.     I don’t have access to a printer that can handle this job efficiently.

A.     We suggest that you download the Handbook documents and take them to your church or a quick

        print location (such as FedEx Kinko’s or Office Depot). Remember, you may request double-sided

        printing if possible (to save paper) and three-hole punch (if you want to use a binder).

 

Q.     What about the Supplement to the Commissioner Handbook?

A.     The Supplement will be available the last week in May for download from www.pcaganet.org.

 

Q.     What about On-Site Reports?

A.     On-site reports will be printed and distributed on the floor, as usual.
